Holistic Online Marketing Strategies for Contemporary Artists

This is a four-part workshop series where participants will learn best practices for creative careers in 2023.

We will cover options for commercialization and monetization, as well as marketing practices for artists and creatives who are hoping to transition from a traditional business model of gallery representation, to a more contemporary model of digital dissemination and self promotion. Participants will come away with a foundational understanding of the contemporary arts landscape, how to find their unique positioning within it, and how to effectively market and sell their work without having to rely on traditional institutions.

This class is remote and interactive. Stutents meet online once a week. Each session is 60 mins. 

Description:
Part One
: Defining Goals and Assessing Options
Assignment: Define and map out one major goals using the metrics outlined in class.

Part Two: Defining an Artist’s Brand and Finding an Audience
Assignment: Create an audience avatar

Part Three: Online Presence and Means of Dissemination
Assignment: Compose one piece of marketing content for the audience avatar on a chosen platform. Include text and audio/visuals.

Part Four: Marketing for Artists
Assignment: Craft a unique selling proposition and pitch.
